Eighth and final installment in a series of Scenes from a (Chinese) Mall. Photographed at the Pacific Mall in Markham.

Although this isn't the greatest series of shots I've posted, this was a good learning experience for me on several levels. Most importantly, it gave me a chance to try my hand at more candid shots, and slowly work on getting over my apprehension surrounding photographing strangers. Thanks go to Cole for the inspiration for this. It also provided the opportunity to give my new scanner a real workout with both 35mm and MF negs. Now I just can't wait for my aftermarket MF Film Holder to arrive -- it's great that the scanner can natively handle 120 film, but it can only do one frame at a time. This new holder allows scanning 3 6x6 negs and 4 645 negs at once, so it'll be a real time saver.

The woman in this shot was having a fairly animated conversation with a vendor. I'm not sure whether they were arguing or just chatting, but she seemed interesting so I fired off a shot. I guessed the focus and composition and just casually tipped up my XA and shot from the side. My guess was a little off, but I think I like this better than what I was originally going for anyways...
